Has Cricket Lost Its Luster?

March 09, 2008 by Harbhajan Singh

Australian and Indian players have taken Cricket to a new bottom from where it will take years to come back. Does it have anything do with the US recession. I guess not and I hope not.

Looking at the recent events and exchanges between the two teams, I am not sure whom to blame and where to start. Cricket Australia has taken objection to Harbhajan Singh's recent outburst, when he labeled the Australian team "arrogant", called Matthew Hayden a "big liar" and Adam Gilchrist "not a saint".

Hayden had started the row by calling Harbhajan a "little obnoxious weed" on a radio show during the CB Series, for which he was quickly reprimanded.

I hope, the two countries will settle their differences soon and ask their players to behave on and off the ground, to bring back glory to the game of Cricket.

More to come. Stay tuned,
